Timeless and Tailored

This elegant 1928 Magnolia Tudor featured a dated and compact kitchen that no longer suited the needs of this busy family.  Our goals focused on preserving the home’s timeless character while creating a space that flows better for everyday life and entertaining. By relocating the back door from the north wall to the east, we opened up direct access to the patio. Widening interior doorways and removing the wall between the kitchen and breakfast nook made the space feel larger and more connected.

In the hardest working room in the house, high quality cabinetry inspired by traditional British kitchens from DeVol and Plain English, complements the home's classic Tudor details.  A cozy built-in eating nook was designed to seat the whole family, the corner original cabinet was kept for character.  Just inside the new back door, a practical mudroom-style cabinet now corrals coats, shoes, and backpacks. We also took the opportunity to rework the small adjacent bathroom, gaining a bit of extra space to enhance the kitchen layout. The final result feels both timeless and tailored—a seamless extension of the home’s original charm.
