Smitten With the View

Smitten with the view and privacy, our client saw the potential in this nondescript 1960s daylight basement-style home. Planning ahead for one-floor living, the main floor was our area of focus for this remodel. Upon entry, a large, bulky fireplace divided the main living floor into small disconnected rooms. To take advantage of the beautiful westward view, we removed the fireplace, thus opening up the floor plan. The kitchen was relocated to the west side, and a large folding window further connects to the deck and Puget Sound view. The roof in the living room was raised, allowing for large bi-fold doors leading to the deck and creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. A generously sized laundry/mudroom was added off the kitchen by partially enclosing a large covered carport. Reconfiguring an odd layout in the primary bathroom resulted in a light-filled, spa-like space. The client made a sweet rock mosaic of orcas on the shower floor.
