Contemporary with a View

This dynamic family set out to remodel an outdated family home in a fabulous location with exquisite, sweeping views of a golf course. They dreamed of creating a unique house for the next chapter of their lives, all on one floor, and to be able to golf whenever the whim struck them. The results are clean and contemporary but still inhabiting its context, a light-filled and comfortable home for themselves and their adult children as well as the coming generation of grandchildren. The whole house was designed for aging in place and multi-generational living.

AIRD’s design maximized light, views, flexibility and allowed for both privacy and entertaining. What resulted was a house perfect for two while also being able to accommodate the whole family, as well as guests. A great deal of thought went into all the spaces. Mary Cox, Interior Designer (A Little Accent) worked with the client on the interior finishes and furnishings. The outcome is very elegant and subtle. She helped the client create a stunning home that feels welcoming and full of interest while staying classic in its style. She tuned into the client’s wishes and employed textures, subtle tile work, soft lighting and a very unique and contemporary guardrail on the stairs. With great attention to detail, she employed furnishings that are very inviting and in proportion to the space. The bathrooms are truly luxurious. The inside is subtle with an undeniable wow-factor.

From the Interior Designer, Mary Cox:

“We had initially remodeled a master bathroom for this client and they were so pleased with the outcome, that when they decided to gut out (and add a 2nd floor), to remodel their parents’ former home for their new residence-they knew who to call.

The project was quite an undertaking and took a year and a half to complete. It involved the initial design direction, floor plans, furniture layout, the selection of all materials & lighting, paint colors throughout, custom furniture and design & manufacturing of custom hand knotted area rugs to name just a few items.”
